Mandrel Cone 1" Hardy

A cone (or mandrel) is for hammering barstock into perfect conical rings or scroll shapes.

Most utilize an anvils' square (hardy) by placing tool into the hole thus using the anvil as a base.  It  has a purpose similar to the horn on an anvil but more consistent round shapes can be created with the help of this tool. In years past mandrel's were used to make bindings for wheel hubs and circular objects such as nose rings for oxen.
