Dome Mushroom Ball Stake 2 1/2", Dixon Style
2 1/2” dome stake lightly polished. This Dixon style hefty steel stake is built to withstand the heavy use associated with blacksmithing, armoring, and jewelry making cold and hot steel, copper, brass, tin, etc.. The work surface is domed and ideal for forming and planishing a wide variety of metals. The tool is constructed is of tough 60/45/12 ductile iron and has a tapered shank to fit a Dixon type stake plate. I sell a great bench plate and other tools that fit the same plate.
The tool weighs approx 7 lbs. These silversmiths stakes are used for any kind of jewelry making or metal forming, by silversmiths, blacksmiths or metalworkers.
The surface is lightly polished, but please be aware it is nowhere near the polishing needed for working with fine metals. The process has only been started for the user. Depending on your activity will determine the level of polishing needed. Dixon stakes were expensive and a lot of time dressing was put into them. These stakes polish incredibly well, but the bulk of the work is left for you to do.
