Blacksmith tinsmithing Pexto 4 Piece Stake set (Large 3 Hole Plate, 2 mushroom, bick anvil)
The pexto set consists of a double stake plate, 4” mushroom stake, 2” mushroom stake and a small bick anvil.
The stake plate is approx. 11" long and 8 1/2" wide. The plate has two pexto tapers that measure 1 9/16" at the widest point and tapers down to 1 3/16" at the bottom. The taper is almost 2" deep and almost 1/2" thick all around. This is thicker and more durable than most pexto plates from the past.
The plate has three mounting holes and has a 1 1/8 x 1 3/4 hardy hole for other tools. The plate is 1/2" thick and will hold up nicely for years to come.
The 4” and 2” hefty steel mushroom stakes are built to withstand the heavy use associated with blacksmithing, armoring, and jewelry making cold and hot steel, copper, brass, tin, etc..
The work surfaces are domed and ideal for forming and planishing a wide variety of metals. Constructed iof tough 60/45/12 ductile iron and have a tapered shank to fit most Pexto type stake plates.
Note, the 4” mushroom is lost wax cast and is slightly polished, the 2” is foundry cast finish.
The size and shape of the Bick Anvil is perfect for the smaller projects that are too small for the traditional size anvil.
The bick anvil tool measures 7 1/4" long from the end of the horn to the back of the anvil face. The anvil face measures 2" wide and 3 1/8" long and the horn is 1 1/2" wide at the largest point and tapers down to a point. The tapered shank is 1 3/8" at the widest point and tapers down the 4" long taper to 3/4".
